Outlook.com notifier

Gmail Notifier Pro supports connecting to Microsoft Outlook.com (formerly Live Hotmail). You can receive notifications for your Outlook.com accounts when new mail arrives. Multiple Outlook.com accounts are supported.

Outlook.com limitations

While Google Gmail supports Atom, POP and IMAP for accessing your mailbox, Microsoft Outlook.com only supports POP. POP does not support as many features as Gmail with IMAP.

With POP it's possible to get notifications, view mail (both as plain text and HTML) and delete mail. It is however not possible to get the read state of a mail. If a mail is read in the web browser, this information is not provided by POP, making it impossible for Gmail Notifier Pro to know if a mail is already read. Gmail Notifier Pro does however provide the operation mark as read for Outlook.com accounts, but this information is only used internally in Gmail Notifier Pro because it cannot be sent to Outlook.com. A mail marked as read in Gmail Notifier Pro will still be displayed as unread when opening Outlook.com in the web browser.

If Microsoft will add IMAP support for Outlook.com in the future, the Outlook.com support in Gmail Notifier Pro can be improved. Another limitations of Outlook.com accounts is that automatic login, other than the automatic login that Microsoft provides in the web browser, is not supported.

Microsoft restricts how often Outlook.com accounts can be checked. At least 10 minutes interval is recommended. An error message can be given if a Outlook.com account is checked to frequent.
