Gmail Notifier Pro 5.0

Gmail Notifier Pro version 5.0 is now available for download.

This release adds support for Microsoft Exchange notifications using Exchange Web Services. The e-mail composer also supports sending messages using a Microsoft Exchange server.

Version 5.0 also includes support for Microsoft SkyDrive accounts, and similar to the Google Drive support, you can get notifications when any document is modified.

Another new features is the built-in RSS feed server. If enabled, all messages in Gmail Notifier Pro can be accessed from any RSS reader. Simply use a RSS reader, either on a PC, smart phone or tablet and connect it to your computer running Gmail Notifier Pro to get access to the latest unread messages.

This release also improves the customization. Notification theme can be defined using rules. A rule could for example be to set a theme with sound notification if the subject line of an e-mail message starts with the word 'Important'. This release also support defining custom actions for message operations, where multiple operations can be combined.

In addition to the news above, version 5.0 also includes the following improvements:

• Improved Facebook notifications. Facebook message inbox will also be monitored.
• Use new Google Drive API.
• Better folder support for IMAP.
• Enhanced security option using custom encryption key.
• New settings available in Options dialog.
• Several corrections, including better IMAP stability.

Please note that Google will discontinue the product Google Reader on July 1, 2013. From this date, you will no longer be able to use Google Reader in Gmail Notifier Pro.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.6.3

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.6.3 is an update that introduces Lithuanian translation.

This release also includes the following corrections:

• Parsing of RSS/Atom feed title improved.
• Corrected problem with deleting messages from Trash folder.
• Corrected mail composer input focus problem.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.6.2 is a minor update with the following updates:

• Gmail Atom links support switching between multiple accounts when launched in the web browser.
• RSS title parsing improved.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.6.1 is a minor update that includes a few corrections to the Facebook and Google+ implementation.

Gmail Notifier Pro version 4.6 is released.

A major new feature is the support for monitoring multiple IMAP folders. By setting "Monitor custom folders" for an IMAP account, multiple folders can be selected. Operations for moving and copying messages betweens folders are also introduced in this release.

The mail composer has also been improved, and contacts can be added and removed from the auto complete list.

This release also introduces a few new MAPI settings, Japanese translation and contains minor corrections and improvements.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.5.1

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.5.1 is a minor update with the following improvements:

• Account text will be highlighted when being checked for new messages.
• The log file can easily be attached when reporting issues.
• The Check Now operation is available for disabled accounts as well.
• Additional icons available for the notification area.

This is the last release for 2012.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.5

Gmail Notifier Pro version 4.5 is available for download.

This release introduces better support for deployment in enterprise environments. Configuration templates can be used to define custom settings to be used by default. There is also a tool available for customizing the MSI package to include the configuration template.

A change in the new version is the default location for storing user settings. For new installations where no existing configuration is available, the user roaming folder will be used to store the user settings.

There are also updates to the names of the supported services. Google Drive is the new name for Google Docs and Microsoft is about to migrate the Live Hotmail users to Outlook.com. The Live Hotmail account type in Gmail Notifier Pro has been renamed to Outlook.com, but supports both the new Outlook.com accounts and the old Live Hotmail accounts.

The Gmail Notifier Pro logo has been updated both on the web site and in the application.

This release also contains the following improvements:

• Google Reader items can be marked with a star.
• Use e-mail signature from Google Apps Business account.
• Mail composer improvements.
• Several minor improvements and corrections.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.4.1 is a minor update with better support for running multiple instances in multi-user environments. The MAPI integration is also improved and a few minor faults are corrected.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.4 is released.

This release includes three notification sounds, that can be configured for the themes. Notifications can also be configured to use sound only, without showing the notification popup. For customized popups, text alignment can be configured.

There are also improvements to the Google Calendar reminders. The snooze time can be fully customized and the reminder sound alert can be configured to play continuously.

This release also contains the following improvements:

• E-mail messages can be printed and saved to disk.
• Web browser can be launched with custom parameters.
• MAPI integration support launching Gmail in web browser with message recipients filled in.
• Several minor improvements and corrections.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.3.5

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.3.5 is released and contains MAPI integration corrections and improved support for the command Send To Mail Recipient in other applications.

The Reply All feature for messages will consider additional sender identities, to suggest the correct recipients.

This release also corrects an image handle leak on Windows 8

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.3.4 is a minor update that contains a few corrections. This release also includes Romanian translation.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.3.3

Gmail Notifier Pro version 4.3.3 improves the automatic Gmail sign in feature when launching a web browser from Gmail Notifier Pro.

Some time ago, Google changed the behaviour when multiple account sessions were used. This release of Gmail Notifier Pro is fully supporting the new Google and Gmail implementation of sessions. When opening a Gmail account or message from Gmail Notifier Pro, the automatic Gmail sign feature will make sure that you never have to type your username or password manually.

This release also gives better stability to the IMAP IDLE implementation.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.3.2

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.3.2 is a minor update that improves the support for IMAP proxy servers and Google+ message parsing.

This release also includes Persian translation.

Google Gmail IMAP server issue

Some users have reported problems accessing their Gmail accounts using IMAP the last few weeks. This is a problem with the Google Gmail servers and affects all mail clients, including Gmail Notifier Pro, that uses IMAP to connect to Gmail.

Google is working on solution for these problems. At the moment it looks like IMAP is working fine for most Gmail users.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.3.1

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.3.1 is a minor update, with improvements to the mail composer. The previous length limitation of links has been removed and links can now be modified.

This update also changes the default value of the setting for forcing a logout before the automatic sign-in, when launching Google accounts in the web browser. In this release Gmail Notifier Pro will by default not force a logout. This behaviour can be changed in the Options dialog - Web browser section.

Gmail Notifier Pro has been successfully verified and certified on the RTM version of Microsoft Windows 8.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.3

Gmail Notifier Pro version 4.3 is released.

This release introduces Twitter notifications. Adding a Twitter account to Gmail Notifier Pro will give notifications about new tweets.

There are also a few new settings added; delaying initial check of accounts on startup, Proxy Domain and ALT+S shortcut for sending mail.

Google Docs ignore feature is changed to be based on document name.

This version also includes several minor correction and improvements, including updates to the mail and signature composer and SMTP corrections.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.2.3

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.2.3 is a minor update that contains the following:

- Specific documents can be ignored for Google Docs.
- If repeating notifications is configured, they will only be displayed for accounts that have been updated successfully.
- Close Popup shortcut key.
- The operation "Mark all as Read" has been added for Facebook accounts.
- Mail composer corrections.
- Localization updates.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.2.1

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.2.1 is a minor update that includes the following improvements:

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.2

Gmail Notifier Pro version 4.2 is released.

This release includes support for Facebook notifications, including friend requests and status updates. Please tell your Facebook friends about this feature.

The Mail Composer and Contact Browser are improved. The Contact Browser is now available for all mail accounts, and can list contacts from any Gmail account.

Each account have a new setting 'Include in total unread count'. By default it is only enabled for mail accounts. Use this setting to select which accounts that should be included when the total amount of unread messages/items are counted.

This release also includes Portuguese (Portugal) translation and several improvements and corrections.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.1.2 is a minor update. This version improves handling of connection failures duing update of Google Contacts.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.1.1

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.1.1 is a minor update with a few updates to the Compose Mail dialog and IMAP implementation. The auto complete feature in the Compose Mail dialog is now supporting both first and last name.

The list of available IMAP folders in the account properties will now include sub folders. Better support for IMAP servers that doesn't support XLIST command is also added.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.1

Gmail Notifier Pro version 4.1 is released.

The new version improves the Google Contacts integration. The contacts are cached locally and the Auto Complete feature in the Compose mail dialog is using the contacts from the cache to make the typing of e-mail addresses easier.

On Windows 7 and Windows 8, the number of unread messages are displayed on the icon in the Windows Taskbar. The Taskbar icon can be configured to always be visible. The new setting is available in the Appearance section in the Options dialog.

The new version also includes Czech translation.

Note: POP mail accounts (not Gmail accounts) will by default only view the latest 100 messages. The number of messages to view can be configured for each POP mail account.

Gmail Notifier Pro has also been succussfully verified on Windows 8 Consumer Preview.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.0.4

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.0.4 is a minor update that support the new message link format for Gmail message. It also corrects the URL for Google Apps sign in page when opening messages in the web browser.

Another improvement is the notification area icon that will be re-added if Windows taskbar is reloaded. A setting for delay loading of notification area icon is also available.

Version 4.0.2 is a minor update that adds tooltip for links in the Gmail Notifier Pro main window.

This is also the first release where the MSI installation and all executables are digitally signed. The digital signature ensures that the software is genuine and confirms the software publisher.

This release corrects a problem with sending mail with embedded images with http references. It also includes updates translations.

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.0

Gmail Notifier Pro 4.0 is released.

The most important new feature is the support for all standard complient IMAP and POP mail servers. If your e-mail provider supports IMAP or POP, your e-mail account can be monitored by Gmail Notifier Pro. The processing of mail is also greatly improved, with better support for embedded images.

When sending attachments to a mail recipient from Windows desktop or applications like Microsoft Office, Gmail can be opened in the web browser with a new message prepared including the selected files as attachments.

The e-mail composer is now fully HTML enabled and support more formatting options and embedded images. Multiple signatures are supported for each mail account.

Important: Message signatures from version 3.X cannot be automatically upgraded.

Gmail Notifier Pro 3.6.2

Two minor releases, 3.6.1 and 3.6.2 have been released this week. These versions contains a few small corrections and updates.

The registration of mail-to handler in Windows is now working better when running as non-Administrator user.

There is also a correction in the calendar area, where calendar events now are retrieved properly in all configurations. There are also performance improvements in the processing of calendar events.

The next major release will be Gmail Notifier Pro 4.0. Version 4.0 is planned to be available before the end of February 2012.

Gmail Notifier Pro 3.6

Gmail Notifier Pro version 3.6 is now available for download.

Gmail Notifier Pro can now be registered as default program for e-mail in Windows, supporting commands like Sent to Mail recipient in the Windows shell. Applications that supports sending documents by e-mail via MAPI, like Microsoft Office, will now be able to use Gmail Notifier Pro for sending.

Previous versions of Gmail Notifier Pro only supported mailto-links. The settings for registering as handler for mailto-link is replaced by the setting to register as default program for e-mail in Windows. By registering as default e-mail program, mailto-links can also be handled. For users upgrading from previous versions, the setting to use Gmail Notifier Pro as default program for e-mail is not enabled by default.

Another new feature is the new account setting for adding an extra icon to the notification area. This icon will display the number of unread messages for the selected account. For important e-mail accounts, this can be useful to see the exact amount of unread messages all the time.

This release also contains several new features and improvements:
- Configurable to disable popup notifications when running full screen applications
- Calendar reminders can be snoozed individually
- More snooze options for calendar reminders
- Better reporting of authentication and connection failures
- New popup background images added (thanks to Zoran Jovanović)

The minor update Gmail Notifier Pro 3.5.1 is available.

The Google Contact browse dialog is improved with automatic suggestions when typing mail addresses. It is also possible to configure shorter notify-again interval for popup notifications and create larger custom popups.

Gmail Notifier Pro version 3.5 is now released.

Version 3.5 introduces initial support for Google+ (Google Plus). The Google+ API is very limited at this moment, but once Google open up for better integration, the Google+ features in Gmail Notifier Pro will be improved. Currently only the last 10 Google+ notifications can be displayed. You can add multiple Google+ accounts, and features like automatic sign in when launching in web browser is of course also supported.

A new mail feature is the IMAP IDLE support, to enable faster mail updates for Gmail IMAP accounts. If configured, the mail server will push out information about new mail and you will receive almost instant notifications.

This release also includes Chinese Traditional translation and a few new settings and corrections.

Important: A new requirement to run Gmail Notifier Pro 3.5 is the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5. Previous versions only required .NET 3.0.

If you run Windows 7, .NET 3.5 is already pre-installed and you don't have to do anything. If you run Windows XP or Windows Vista you might have to download .NET 3.5 from Microsoft.

3.5 is not only the version number of next Gmail Notifier Pro release. A new requirement to run Gmail Notifier Pro is the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5. Previous versions only required .NET 3.0.

Gmail Notifier Pro 3.4

Gmail Notifier Pro version 3.4 is released.

A notification area flyout is introduced. The flyout can display a summary of all new mail and news feeds.

This release also introduces support for Google Docs notifications. When a document is updated, a notification will be given.

Another new feature is the global shortcut keys configuration. Several of the Gmail Notifier Pro features can now be accessed with shortcut keys at any time.

This release also includes German translation.

Version 3.2.1 is a minor update with support for importing and exporting themes.

Version 3.2 is now available for download.

The most important new feature is the support for Yahoo! Mail. Gmail Notifier Pro now supports notifications for all the three major webmail providers: Google Gmail, Microsoft Live Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail.

Another new feature can be found in the theme configuration. For themes it's now possible to define background images for the popup window.

This release also includes Hebrew and Vietnamese translations.

This is a small update that fixes a crash scenario in the Compose Mail window.

Version 3.1.1 is available. This is a minor update with a few new features.

Accounts can be sorted in alphabetical or custom order. The Compose Mail dialog have an auto complete list when typing mail addresses. Previously used mail addresses will be showed in a list.

Default calendar reminders can be disabled. When disabled, only calendar events where a popup reminder is configured in Google Calendar will be displayed in the reminder window.

Version 3.1 is now available for download.

This release adds support for Microsoft Live Hotmail accounts. The application is now also a Hotmail notifier for Windows.

Other improvements are:
- Interval for checking accounts can be configured individually for each account.
- A few new configuration settings.
- Korean translation added.

Gmail Notifier Pro 3.0

Gmail Notifier Pro version 3.0 is now available for download.

This release adds support for HTML formatted mail and feeds. All layout, images and links are displayed as in the web browser.

For Gmail IMAP accounts, it's now possible to view both unread and read mail. The operation to 'Mark as unread' is also added.

The user interface have been improved with a new Ribbon toolbar and support for both horizontal and vertical layout of the main window. The popup notifications are also improved and can now be fully customized.
